How to zoom in Photoshop
Zoom in Photoshop is a task we perform routinely while editing images in the image window, to enlarge an image, click with the zoom tool to enlarge or drag with the zoom tool, highlight the area you want to enlarge.
Zoom in Photoshop is necessary when you want to accurately edit or view a portion of an image. Then you need to zoom out to compare the edits to the whole image.

Zoom in Photoshop by clicking

Here are some of my favorite Photoshop zoom shortcuts.
To access the Zoom tool:
- “Z” selects the zoom tool.
- Option + Click (Mac) | Alt + click (Win) toggles the zoom tool in/out.
- Hold down the spacebar and add Alt (Win) Option or (Mac) to temporarily access the Zoom In tool without switching to the Zoom tool.
- Hold down the spacebar and add Control (Win) or Command (Mac) to temporarily access the Zoom Out tool without switching to the Zoom tool.
To display an image at 100% (also known as 1:1 preview):
- Select Display > Actual Pixels.
- Double-click the Zoom tool.
- Control +1 (Win) or Command + 1 (Mac)
To display the largest possible image on the monitor, while still viewing the entire image:
- Select View > Fit to Screen.
- Double-click the Hand tool.
- Control + 0 (Win) or Command + 0 (Mac)
Quick zoom in and out:
- Control +” (plus) (Win) or Command + “+” (plus) (Mac) zooms in.
- Control + “-” (minus) (Win) or Command + “-” (minus) (Mac) zooms out.
Note: The previous two shortcuts also work in modal states (for example, when a dialog is displayed or when using Free Transform).
Select the Zoom tool and hold the image to zoom in continuously. Add Alt (Win) or Option (Mac) to zoom out.
